what are some benefits or yoga?
does your body become longer leaner etc.? or is it more of a mental thing? if your body does benefit about how long does it take to see results?
yoga typically makes the body longer and leaner because of all of the stretching. it makes you more flexible, makes you stronger, tones your muscles, and also really helps to relax you. yoga has alot to do with breathing and centering yourself – it is also a very mental exercise. alot of people choose to do yoga when they are stressed out because it helps them to center themselves and lose some of the stress. it has alot of good benefits!

anything else you do? yoga is like a supporter, not the main striker.
you will begin to notice it as fast as you can meditate and feel comfort with the position

It depends upon how you approach it. There are so many flavors of yoga, classes, teachers, etc. But if you stick to a mainstream flavor, like Iyengar, you’ll find you’ll have a better sense of posture (which may make you look longer/leaner), balance, and mental clarity. You can also use yoga in a therapeutic way, e.g. using specific sequences for headaches, cramps. depression, etc.
If you develop a strong daily practice (very important), you’ll see or feel results almost immediately. And, you’ll be able to do it the rest of your life!
A good book: BKS Iyengar, Light on Life (see below)

It is both, I used to do it all the time, but somehow I got lazy, it is excellent for flexibility and toning, and meditation is so helpful, for today’s busy schedules.
It is hard to say how long it will take to see results , like any other exercise, you have to work at it, but it is great.

Yoga is a 5,000 year old mind and body science for wellness and self-healing. With regular practice, yoga offers:
·Greater strength, flexibility, balance
·Increased energy
·Enhanced memory and concentration
·Better posture
·A stronger immune system
·Reduced stress
I would highly recommend it. It benefits you physically, mentally, and emotionally. You feel instant results, however physcial changes depend on consistency of practice. Doing yoga at least 3 times a week for beginners is best.
