Will I see any benefits from starting yoga at 27 weeks pregnant?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin in benefits of yoga | 2 Comments »

Im 27 weeks pregnant and have only just started swimming. I am also thinking of doing yoga. But just wanted to know have I left it all too late??

I did yoga throughout my pregnancy as well as swimming and aqua running.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t done yoga before or whether you start it early or late in your pregnancy because you will definitely benefit from it. at an absolute minimum it will relax you. you will also find it helps strech your pelvic area and prepare you mentally for the birth. it’s also good to be around other pregnant women and share experiences etc.

go for it! x

I just started taking a yoga class for beginners. I really enjoy it however, I am trying to get pregnant.?

If and when that happens can I still enroll in the beginning yoga class? I know people offer yoga for pregnecy however my gym doesn’t offer that type of class. What moves in beginning yoga can a pregnent woman do? Which moves should I stay away from. Remember I am only a beginner I can’t even touch the toes yet!

Talk with the instructor and tell him/her about your situation. If she is a good instructor, she will be able to instruct you on how to modify certain poses or which poses to avoid. An instructor (doesn’t matter if she is a yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, step or whatever instructor) should be certified and have experience and knowledge of how to advise her students in these special certain circumstances so that each student will know that he/she can participate at their own level and know that no injury or harm will result.

How long should I do yoga for?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin in beginners yoga poses | 4 Comments »

It struck me today that I’m not nearly as flexible as I should be for an ex-gymnast. I’ve done yoga before, but I’ve never taken a formal class, just done some poses as stretches. How long is a normal session of yoga, or, for a beginner, interested in home yoga, how long should I do it for?
Thank you! :)

I do a home yoga 40 minutes a day by Diamond Dallas Page called YRG. It has really helped loosen up my body and gain flexibility. They also added in some pillates movements so it tones your body. The best price I found the DVD’s for was on ebay but I got the online version at www.GreatDrills.com Good Luck!

Yoga for beginners?

How many different types of yoga are there and which one is best for beginners? I hear that yoga is good for stress relief but Im not sure where to start. Help please.

Hatha yoga is usually best for beginners because it is the most basic. I also recommend Iyengar yoga because this style uses props such as blocks, straps, chairs and bolsters to assist you, so that you get into a pose with more ease.

If you would like a more meditative and slow yoga style, try Integral yoga or Sivananda yoga.

Avoid physcially demanding styles such as Ashtanga or Power yoga because these styles require much flexibility and strength.

What benefits has doing yoga brought to you personally?

Posted on September 27th, 2009 by admin in benefits of yoga | 5 Comments »

has it helped you in terms of your health? has it helped you spiritually, emotionally, or mentally?
sounds wonderful!

Yoga has helped me in all facits. From physical to emotional, I feel better about life and my health. Remember to meditate too. Meditation is very important to me because I use it like a chalkboard. Everything that I might be worrying about at the time, I can mentally erase it from my mind and/or find a practical solution.

I’m not taking classes or anything, just doing it at home. How long should I do yoga? How long does it take to see a difference in my body (i.e. getting toned legs/stomach, ect.)? And does anyone know any good beginner poses? I’m not very flexible at all….Thanks!
By "How long should I do yoga" i mean how many minutes a day.
By "How long should I do yoga" i mean how many minutes a day.

Do it for about 30 minutes a day. Expect to be sore the first few days. You’ll be a lot more flexible and feel a lot better, physically and mentally. I think it’s pretty amazing because if done properly you see results within a couple of weeks. Yoga’s awesome.

i asked this before under a different catagory but no luck. i have u c and stress is a big factor a lot of people have recomended yoga. i want to start but i need a good dvd for beginners. i saw The FIRM Beginner’s Yoga Kit with DVD at walmart has anyone tried it? i want something that helps with flexibility and maybe toning and preferably one that comes as a kit. the only drawback to that one is that you cant get it in store which is what i prefer to do. it also cant be too expensive. and before anyone asks i live in an extremely rural area so there arent any gyms or anything. any dvds that you’ve tried and liked would be helpful. thanks for your answers =]
